Wayfaring Tree

(Viburnum lantana)

Wayfaring Tree is an excellent flower plant for wild- and honey bees, because it offers a lot of nectar and pollen. The blossoms are very likely to be visited from hoverflies, beetles and butterflies, such as the Peacock Butterfly. The elastic wood is used for the manufacturing of arrows for archery. The arrows of the glacier mummy “Ötzi” were already made of this wood.

Cooperation "Biodiversity and Environmental Protection

As part of the educational initiative "Biodiversity and Environmental Education", a green lawn was transformed into a colourful, species-rich garden on this site by the pupils of the Längenfeld Primary School and Middle School Nature Park Schools.
