Nesting aid for wild bees

A nesting aid is an artificially created facility designed to imitate the nesting sites of certain wild animal species. In this case, the holes drilled in the tree trunk are supposed to be used by wild bees to lay their eggs. There are 700 species of wild bees in Austria. Their nesting opportunities are becoming increasingly scarce as typical nest sites such as deadwood or hollow plant stems are being removed from gardens and forests.” The following wild bee species are affected: horned mason bee, red mason bee, steel blue mason bee, silk bee, etc.

Cooperation "Biodiversity and Environmental Protection

As part of the educational initiative "Biodiversity and Environmental Education", a green lawn was transformed into a colourful, species-rich garden on this site by the pupils of the Längenfeld Primary School and Middle School Nature Park Schools.
