Meadow Clary

(Salvia pratensis)

Meadow Clary plays an important role as basic food resource of our local insects. 24 species of wild bees and 24 species of butterflies like to collect the nectar of this plant. Moreover a lot of caterpillars feed on Meadow Clary. Unfortunately, it often becomes the victim of the mower during its flowering time. This means that bumblebees, bees and butterflies lose an important source of nectar.

Cooperation "Biodiversity and Environmental Protection

As part of the educational initiative "Biodiversity and Environmental Education", a green lawn was transformed into a colourful, species-rich garden on this site by the pupils of the Längenfeld Primary School and Middle School Nature Park Schools.
